The Friends of François Cachoud aims to make the artist's work, life and personality better known through his time and his contemporaries, contribute to publications, organize events, contribute to events , And finally to encourage the good guard of all memories about him such as photographs, works.
We contribute to make known the works of the painter François Cachoud, as well his oil paintings representing nocturnal landscapes as his pastels, his watercolors or even his drawings.
Alongside the promotion of works by the artist, the association wishes to introduce, to the greatest number, the personality of François Cachoud through his time and especially his contemporaries.
It is essential to preserve the image of this painter by making sure that no malice takes place against him, in particular by monitoring the numerous errors that can circulate against him.
Our role is to contribute, as far as possible, to any publication concerning the painter François Cachoud as well as to publish documents, books or articles.
We work on the creation of a catalog raisonné in partnership with art experts. We list the works of the artist, but also the photographs, all related documents.
Following the solicitations, the association agrees to participate in the events, exhibitions and celebrations related to the painter. We are present in the organization of events.
French artist painter born in 1866.
Born in 1866 in Chambéry, France, he is the son of a baker. Aged 17, he left the studies to integrate the administration of the Ponts-et-Chaussés. It was during this period that he began taking drawing courses with the painter Benoît Molin. He became friends with another student named Ernest Filliard, a future watercolor artist. The young Francis progresses rapidly. Thanks to scholarships granted by the city of Chambéry, he left his native Savoy to find Paris and his school of Fine Arts. He is only 23 years old. He became successively the pupil of the teacher Elie Delaunay then of Gustave Moreau. From 1905, he became a painter of night landscapes. He likes to represent the surroundings of Chambéry, Lake Bourget, Lake Aiguebellette ... He exhibits every year at the Salon des Artistes Français. In 1900, he was awarded the bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. Ten years later, he was appointed Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. He will produce advertising illustrations for the P.L.M. He contributes to the decoration of the steamer La Savoie. He died on January 29, 1943 in Saint-Alban-de-Montbel.
